March 3, 2011 - (Pembroke, NH) – Green Mountain Communications is pleased to announce its acceptance into the National Association of Tower Erectors’ (NATE) new Safety, Training, Accountability, and Reliability (STAR) Initiative. Acceptance into the STAR Initiative is indicative of Green Mountain Communications’ dedication to the safety of its employees and recognizes Green Mountain Communications as an industry leader in safety.

The STAR Initiative requires that (1) each member have strict health and safety programs in addition to a consistent presence of a competent person responsible for the oversight of these programs, (2) all personnel working at tower sites have 10 hours of OSHA training and supervisors have 30 hours, and (3) all companies carry out quarterly 10 point safety audits that adhere to guidelines in NATE’s Accident Prevention and Safety Guidelines. The implementation of these components by Green Mountain Communications and other STAR Initiative members will aid NATE in achieving its goal of guaranteeing the safety of all employees within the industry.

“We are honored to be selected as members of the NATE STAR Initiative, which will enable us to implement more standardized policies and to measure the performance of our safety plans,” states Victor Drouin, President of Green Mountain Communications. “Workplace safety has always been our utmost concern and it is exciting for us to embark on this project with an organization that shares our values.”

“We are pleased to have Green Mountain Communications as a new member of the STAR Initiative.” states Patrick Howey, Executive Director of NATE. “We feel confident that this partnership will set an example of exemplary workplace safety and will encourage other industry leaders to adopt the same high safety standards, furthering progress toward our goal of ensuring that every technician goes home safely at the end of the day.”
